This qualification is ideal for individuals who are designated as first aiders in their workplace or those looking to gain advanced first aid skills. The course covers a wide range of first aid scenarios, ensuring that participants are well-prepared to respond to workplace injuries, illnesses, and emergency situations.

 

This qualification is recognized by employers and meets the legal requirements for workplace first aid as outlined by the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.

  • Module 1: Understanding the Role of a First Aider:

    • Learn the responsibilities of a first aider, including communication skills, maintaining a safe environment, and managing the situation effectively.

    Module 2: Assessing an Incident:

    • Learn how to assess the scene of an emergency, check for dangers, and determine the appropriate response.
    • Understand how to prioritize treatment for multiple casualties.

    Module 3: Providing First Aid for a Casualty who is Unresponsive and not Breathing Normally:

    • Learn how to perform CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) and use an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) effectively.
    • Understand how to handle casualties who are unresponsive but breathing, including placing them in the recovery position.

    Module 4: Administering First Aid to a Casualty who is Choking:

    • Recognize the signs of choking and understand how to provide first aid for a choking casualty using the Heimlich maneuver and other techniques.

    Module 5: Dealing with Wounds, Bleeding, and Shock:

    • Learn how to manage and treat wounds and bleeding, from minor cuts to severe injuries, including using bandages and dressings.
    • Understand how to recognize and treat shock in casualties.

    Module 6: Administering First Aid for Burns and Scalds:

    • Learn how to provide treatment for burns and scalds, including the application of appropriate first aid measures to prevent further damage.

    Module 7: Managing Fractures, Sprains, and Strains:

    • Gain knowledge on how to immobilize fractures, provide first aid for sprains and strains, and manage musculoskeletal injuries.

    Module 8: Recognizing and Providing First Aid for Common Illnesses:

    • Learn to identify signs and symptoms of common illnesses such as heart attacks, strokes, asthma, and seizures, and provide appropriate first aid.
